SWARA-NATYA is the maiden presentation by SWARA Community Arts Center. Conceptualized as a variety show encompassing classical indian music and dance, it showcases well known classical Indian artists in the Malaysian arts scene.

The show will be held at the Shantanand Auditorium, Temple of Fine Arts, Kuala Lumpur on the 12th of September, 2014 at 8:15 P.M. and will approximately take two (2) hours from start to finish.

The purpose of this Indian Classical Music Program is to raise funds required to finance the inception and operation of SWARA Community Arts Centre, a social enterprise initiated by the all those performing on stage, who intend to build a friendly and vibrant artistic space for Malaysian youths from all walks of life, nurturing and supporting them for an extended term of concentrated artistic activity. SWARA Communuity Arts Centre is poised to serve as an accessible, responsive and creative intellectual resource that provides educational, recreational, cultural, health and lifelong learning opportunities for the youth and adults in the surrounding community.

The performers who will be showcased are Samuel J Dass on Sitar, Prakash Kandasamy on Tabla, Geetha Shankaran-Lam performing Odissi, Neha Mondal Chakravarthy performing Bharatanatyam, Bhavani Logeswaran who will render Carnatic Vocals together with Pangasaasanii Gowrisan on Carnatic Violin. The centrepiece of the performance would be a combined musical performance that synthesises the talents of all the performers on stage.

All the performers in Swara- Natya are also teachers at SWARA Community Arts Center and have agreed to perform pro-bono and contribute the monies derived from ticket sales for this event to kickstart the funding and operation of the center due to be launched officially in November 2014. Tickets are priced at RM30, RM50 and RM100.
